L A Blacksmith
is a dynamic and charismatic performer who has brought his special brand of electrifying Funk, Jazz & Soul chops to live performances with artists such as Melba Moore, Me’Lisa Morgan, Freddie Jackson, Erykah Badu, Denice Williams, Isaac Hayes, & Ray Goodman & Brown. He is a gifted saxophonist, flutist & vocalist whose technique, emotional blend, & interpretation, fueled his musical odyssey. His versatility on Sax/Vocals 1st caught the eye of Ben E. King, with whom he did a worldwide tour. He also worked with Shirley Alston Reeves (original lead vocalist for the Shirelles) A few years later he sang his way onto a Canadian tour with Rick Sheppard & became a member of "The Drifters".

His group Jazz-Plus performed for the Black Spectrum Theater Concert series, The Forest Hill Concert Series, & The Airtran Concert Series to name a few. As a scintillating Sax-man & Vocalist he has & continues to be a member of "Brass Construction" and "Crown Heights Affair" two highly acclaimed Funk/Dance Bands. In 2013 C.H.A. played to a sold out performance @ the Coronet theater in London. L A was the Musical Director for The Brooklyn Tonight Band @ The Barclay's Center featuring (Boro Pres) Marty Markowitz's Johnny Carson type show & has also performed for the current Boro President Eric Adams. When L A isn't doing his own thing he works with one of the top Corporate agencies In NY, Starlight Entertainment. L A was one of the musicians flown out to Santa Barbara to do Kevin Harts Wedding in California with a bevy of Celebrities in attendance.
L A also performed for the Prince of Morocco's Bday party in Morocco a few years back. He is a graduate of the Center for Media Arts, and has Sound Engineering Credits with Whitney Houston, Kashif, Johnny Kemp, George Benson, & Najee to name a few. L A was part of the horn section (SmithCox Orgn) that performed on the hit singles “I’ll do anything for you” - Denroy Morgan, “Somebody else’s Guy” -Jocelyn Brown, “Heartbeat”-Tanya Gardner, “Funky Sensation”- Gwen McRae & “Gonna get over you”-France Joli.
Currently Jazz-Plus (L A's Grp) is bringing show's to the Queens & Bklyn Library System, Prisons, & Nursing Homes all over the tri-state area during the wk. In 2016 L A released his 1st E.P. featuring his single "Mo Justice Mo Peace" along with several song's written while in Nigeria. Produced by V. Jeffrey Smith & L A BlackSmith in their respective studio's. L A released “MoJustice MoPeace (TribalMix) a Conscious piece with a Worldbeat groove & mixed by V. Jeffrey Smith.
L A was also an artist for The Unisoul World Wide Network who are Promoting “After Midnight,” “Warri” “ Nigerian Bird Call” & “Got the Love” These songs have been in their Top Ten Favorite’s. “Warri” is a Smooth Jazz/Groovin cut & “After Midnight” has a Reggae groove with a Grown & Playful Vocal Story. “Got the Love” a Spinners Vocal R&B feel & Nigerian Bird Call, A world beat Jazzy/Funky/Rhythmically/Groovin Instrumental.
The Pandemic in 2020 opened the door for L A to upgrade Jazz-Plus Studio’s into a broadcasting facility. He’s been giving back and working with several Hospitals, Libraries, & Community groups in the tri-state area bringing quality Virtual shows & producing Musical programs.
